More Fuel Safety

!FUEL SAFETY!

I want to preface this by saying I don't know the details of what happened But, The loss of Ryan Bard in the terrible accident at Abilene has everyone More Concerned about safety, as it should. The hard part about this for me is, though I did not know Ryan personally He was one of us. I know him in everyone I race with. This accident could have happened to me, you or anyone you or I know that climbs in a racecar every weekend.

I know from a personal perspective this event has made us (Bill and I) look hard at our own our safety program, as it should you. The following is something that Bill Gordon built after an inspection into his own safety equipment.   We, are in no way  saying this is the complete or correct fix, or do we take any liability for anything you do. We are just sharing this information with you because it is something that that made sense to us.

This is in no way a replacement for a Fuelsafe or ATL Fuel Cell, equipped with a flapper valve accompanied with the correct cap and roll over check valves.  That being said I know that not everyone is going to run out and buy this type of equipment if you do not. I at least hope this makes you to take a hard look at you current setup.

Remember

Anytime you’re working around flammables take every precaution required to keep safe . This includes any time you’re cutting or grinding, Always work in a well-ventilated area with the proper fire extinguisher and fire protection present.

THE STRAP

The following is What Bill did. It takes about thirty minutes to do and will cost you about ten bucks. Before you get started though it’s best to drain your fuel cell and let it air out long enough to free it of any hydrocarbons. This will help prevent any possibility of fire.  The  pictures below are of the installation on bills car it’s pretty self explanatory.  If you need more help with this than what the pictures are showing, please email me and let me know.   Bill and I will be glad to Disassemble his installation and do a step by step pictorial to help explain this.

Stay Safe,
